CREDIT ACCRUAL AND RECOVERY @ CVP

Why should or would I take an online credit accrual or recovery course through CVP?

Recover credit for a class you failed, or take a course for initial credit to free up your schedule during the school year.
CVP offers a supportive environment for students who are taking extra classes. Student success and completion of courses are a high priority.
The curriculum is engaging. All CVP courses are offered through Edmentum. These are video-based lessons that students work through at their own pace.
While all of the curriculum is delivered online, credit accrual and recovery students will have access to BCSC certified teachers if they need help!

Important Information

Columbus Virtual Pathway will facilitate, monitor, and track BCSC students completing credit recovery courses through their home schools. CVP teachers will be responsible for entering grades and supporting students in the Edmentum courses. They will work with home school counselors to update progress and engage with students when necessary.

All courses operate on a semester schedule. Courses are expected to be completed within the semester they are enrolled.
BCSC students in grades 9 - 12 are eligible pending home school approval.
Students MUST enroll through their counselor; please schedule an appointment with your counselor to request a course.
Students will receive login information when they register for a course with their counselor.

Grades will be recorded in Powerschool at the end of the grading terms. These courses will appear on your high school transcript.

CVP Course Guide

CVP Course Guide - This document contains information on the courses available for Columbus Virtual Pathway students in grades 7-12. Students may select a maximum of 2 courses to complete during the semester.

*Please note that the A or B designation in the course name represents the corresponding semester.

Example: English 9A represents the first semester of the year-long English 9 course. English 9B would represent the second semester of that course.

If there is not a letter following the course title, that represents a semester-long course.

**Please note that some of the courses listed in the guide indicate that they are for FULL-TIME CVP students only.

Credit Accrual (Initial Credit) vs Credit Recovery

Credit Recovery:

The student who received an F in the course and is re-taking the course to recover credits. **Credit Recovery courses ARE NOT APPROVED by the NCAA/NAIA. Potential college athletes should request Initial Credit courses.

Grade Improvement:

The student who received a C+ or lower in a course and is re-taking the course for a higher grade.

Credit Accrual (Initial Credit):

The student taking the course for the first time. Credit accrual courses usually require more classwork.

CVP Grading Information

CVP courses use the same 12-point grading scale that is used at all BCSC high schools for courses during the academic school year.

Registering for a CVP Credit Recovery or Credit Accrual course is an elective option for students, however, it is a commitment to taking and completing the course. Courses will be added to the student's schedule and grades will be entered into PowerSchool at the end of grading terms. These courses will appear on your high school transcript.
